Official San Diego State University Transcripts

Official transcripts contain coursework taken at San Diego State University, including Open University and extension-credit courses taken through SDSU Global Campus. Official transcripts may be ordered in electronic or paper form.

Official transcripts are printed on official transcript paper, bear the University Seal and include the University Registrar's signature. Paper transcripts are provided in a sealed envelope and must remain unopened until presented to the receiving institution, employer, or organization. Electronic transcripts are official only when sent directly to the intended recipient.

Only San Diego State University transcripts will be issued. Transcripts from other institutions must be ordered from the original institution and are not included with transcripts from SDSU, even if transfer credit was awarded.

If all SDSU coursework was taken prior to 1987, official transcripts will need to be ordered by completing the Official Transcript Request Form and mailing it in along with payment. The fee for official transcripts is $15 per copy. Completed forms and payment should be mailed to:

If a portion or all SDSU coursework was taken after fall 1987, official transcripts may be requested online, by mail, or in person. Please be aware only the hard copy paper option is available to you. Electronic transcripts are not available for students with coursework prior to fall 1987.

The Office of the Registrar does not accept transcript requests via fax, phone, or email.

San Diego State University has partnered with Parchment, Inc. to fulfill paper and electronic transcript orders submitted online. Please be aware that if all or part of your coursework was taken prior to 1987, only the hard copy paper option is available to you.

Official transcript requests submitted to Parchment, Inc. will be processed within 2-3 business days and will not be held for submission of grades or degrees. Current students are encouraged to confirm all information on their unofficial transcript is accurate before ordering, including grades, degrees, and if applicable, legal name. Refunds or fee waivers will not be issued for requests submitted before current term grades or degrees are posted.

The fee for official transcripts is $15 per transcript. Additional fees may apply.

Starting January 6, 2025, sales tax will be collected by Parchment on certain document requests, including transcripts, in compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws. This change may affect the total cost of your request based on various factors such as document type, delivery method, and location.

Before completing your order, you will see a breakdown of all charges, including any applicable taxes, to ensure total transparency.

Transcript requests fulfilled by Parchment, Inc are processed within 2-3 business days. Additional fees will be assessed with orders fulfilled by Parchment, Inc as listed below. Please be aware transcripts fulfilled by Parchment are mailed from Parchment headquarters in Arizona. Please allow for additional delivery time.

If part or all of your coursework was taken prior to Fall 1987 and you choose the FedEx Service option, processing time may be longer than anticipated.

If you receive an email indicating your request is on hold for "Records Research", please anticipate additional processing time. Requests may be put on hold for records research when student information provided in the transcript request does not match what is in our student information system (i.e. names, date of birth, etc). The Office of the Registrar may contact you for additional information in order to complete your request.

When viewing your order status for paper transcripts "delivered" means the transcript was placed in the mail.

Effective January 1, 2025 unofficial transcripts will only be available in my.SDSU. Students who do not have access to my.SDSU will have to order an official transcript through Parchment.

Unofficial transcripts report the same course and grade information as the official transcripts; however, they are not considered official because they do not have the official university seal imprinted on them and are not suitable for transfer purposes. Unofficial transcripts are used primarily for student reference.
