February
February 6 Applications available for May or August 2021 graduation with a bachelor's degree or advanced degree in your SDSU WebPortal. For more information visit the Apply to Graduate web page.
March
March 22 Fall basic tuition and fee payments accepted. Fall basic tuition and fees must be paid prior to registering for fall courses.
May
May 10 Personal registration information available in the SDSU WebPortal.
May 25 Fall 2021 registration begins.
June
June 25 Thesis submission strict 3:45 p.m. deadline: Final day for submitting thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review to have the best likelihood for graduation in summer 2021.
July
July New Student Orientation for freshman students and parents/families (registration required).
July 1 Applications available for May or August 2022 graduation with a bachelor's degree or advanced degree in your SDSU WebPortal. For more information visit the Apply to Graduate web page.
August
August New Student Orientation for transfer students and parents/families (registration required).
August 7 Last day for reporting results on comprehensive examinations to the Division of Graduate Affairs by department or college.
August 13 (tentative) New Graduate Student Orientation available (online).
August 13 Thesis publication strict 3:45 p.m. deadline: Thesis review process, including publishing, must be completed on this date at Montezuma Publishing. Applicants for graduation missing the final deadline will be automatically evaluated for graduation in future terms.
August 16 Maximum undergraduate registration units for fall 2021 increases from 18 units to 21 units. Students requesting to enroll in more than 21 units must receive approval from their academic adviser.
August 19 Avoid reenrollment in 799B strict 3:45 p.m. deadline: Final day to submit thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review without having to enroll in 799B the following term.
August 19 Welcome Week begins.
August 19 All-University Convocation.
August 20 First day of fall semester.
August 20 Last day of submission of incomplete and RP grade removals (excluding thesis) for August 2021 graduation with an advanced degree.
August 21 New Student and Family Convocation.
August 22 Last day to officially withdraw for fall semester and receive a full refund (less administrative fee if applicable).
August 22 Last day to pay basic tuition and fees without penalty.
August 23 Last day for nonresident (foreign and out-of-state) students to pay non-resident tuition and not incur service charges.
August 23 First Day of Classes. Faculty can begin to add seats from class section wait lists. If a seat becomes available, students on the wait list will be added automatically. Faculty can select the number of students to be added to each course section through the class rosters available in the SDSU WebPortal.
August 23 Basic tuition and fee payments accepted with a late fee.
August 27 Last day of wait list auto-enrollment. After this date, enrollment in open seats is not automatic or guaranteed. Faculty must enroll students from their wait list.
August 30 Voter Registration Deadline for Special Primary Election.
September
September 1 Last day for faculty to drop students from classes (11:59 p.m. deadline).
August 28–September 3 On the sixth day of classes through tenth day of classes, enrollment in open seats is not automatic or guaranteed. Faculty must monitor their class rosters and determine if students may be enrolled from the wait list to meet the enrollment needs for the class.
September 3 Schedule adjustment deadline. Last day to add, drop, or change grading basis (7:59 p.m. deadline).
September 3 Last day to opt-out of Immediate Access for online course materials (if applicable).
September 3 Last day for payment of fees for registration (3:30 p.m. deadline).
September 3 Last day to officially withdraw from the university without penalty fee for fall semester 2021. Withdrawal requests after September 3 are accepted by petition only.
September 3 Last day to apply for December 2021 graduation with a bachelor's degree or advanced degree in your SDSU WebPortal. For more information visit the Apply to Graduate web page.
September 3 Last day to file petition for concurrent graduate credit for fall semester 2021.
September 6 Holiday—Labor Day. Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
September 14 California Gubenatorial Recall Election
September 20 Census.
October
October 1 Applications for admission or readmission to San Diego State University for the fall semester 2022 accepted. Undergraduate applications are NOT accepted after November 30 (postmarked). Graduate applicants should consult Graduate Admissions for closing dates.
October 1 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available for the 2022-23 academic year.
October 11 Indigenous Peoples' Day
October 29 Thesis submission strict 3:45 p.m. deadline: Final day for submitting thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review to have the best likelihood for fall 2021 graduation.
October 30 Last day to officially withdraw from all classes for fall 2021 and receive a prorated refund (withdrawal after September 3 requires special approval and a penalty fee is assessed).
November
November 1 Spring 2022 registration begins.
November 11 Holiday—Veterans Day. Faculty/Staff holiday. Campus closed.
November 25–26 Holiday—Thanksgiving recess. No classes will be held Nov. 24, but campus will remain open.
Campus closed Nov. 25-26. Faculty/staff holiday.
December
December 9 Last Day to submit a fall 2021 Petition for Late Schedule Adjustment or Request for Credit/No Credit.
December 9 Last day of classes before final examinations.
December 9 Last day for reporting results on comprehensive examinations to the Division of Graduate Affairs by department or college.
December 10–16 Final examinations.
December 17 Thesis publication strict 3:45 p.m. deadline: Thesis review process, including publishing, must be completed on this date at Montezuma Publishing. Applicants for graduation missing the final deadline will be automatically evaluated for graduation in future terms.
December 24–29 Holiday—Winter recess. Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
December 30 Avoid reenrollment in 799B strict 12 p.m. deadline: Final day to submit thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review without having to enroll in 799B the following term.
December 30 Grades due from instructors. (11 p.m. deadline.)
December 30 Last day of fall semester.
December 30 Last day for submission of incomplete and RP grade removals (excluding thesis) for December 2021 graduation with an advanced degree.
December 31 Holiday—New Year's Day Observed. Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
