Fall 2020 Registration Timeline

February
February 6 Applications available for May or August 2020 graduation with a bachelor's degree or advanced degree in your SDSU WebPortal. For more information visit the Apply to Graduate web page.
February 27 Personal registration information available in the SDSU WebPortal.
March
March 2 Fall Basic Tuition and Fee payments accepted. Fall Basic Tuition and Fees must be paid prior to registering for fall courses.
April
April 13 Fall 2020 registration begins.
June
June 1 New Graduate Student Orientation available (online).
June 28 Thesis submission strict 3:45 p.m. deadline: Final day for submitting thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review to have the best likelihood for graduation in summer 2020.
July
July New Student Orientation for freshmen and parents (held at SDSU).
July 1 Applications available for May or August 2021 graduation with a bachelor's degree or advanced degree in your SDSU WebPortal. For more information visit the Apply to Graduate web page.
August
August New Student Orientation for transfer students and parents (held at SDSU).
August 7 Last day for reporting results on comprehensive examinations to the Division of Graduate Affairs by department or college.
August 14 Thesis publication strict 3:45 p.m. deadline: Thesis review process, including publishing, must be completed on this date at Montezuma Publishing. Applicants for graduation missing the final deadline will be automatically evaluated for graduation in future terms.
August 19 Avoid reenrollment in 799B strict 3:45 p.m. deadline: Final day to submit thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review without having to enroll in 799B the following term.
August 20 First day of fall semester.
August 20 All-University Convocation.
August 21 Last day of submission of incomplete and RP grade removals (excluding thesis) for August 2020 graduation with an advanced degree.
August 21 Last day for nonresident (foreign and out-of-state) students to pay deferred tuition and not incur service charges.
August 22 New Student and Family Convocation.
August 23 Last day to officially withdraw for fall semester and receive a full refund (less administrative fee if applicable).
August 23 Last day to pay basic tuition and fees without penalty.
August 24 First Day of Classes. Faculty can begin to add seats from class section wait lists. If a seat becomes available, students on the wait list will be added automatically. Faculty can select the number of students to be added to each course section through the class rosters available in the SDSU WebPortal.
August 24 Welcome Week begins.
August 24 Basic tuition and fee payments accepted with a late fee.
August 28 Last day of wait list auto-enrollment. Faculty control adding seats from the wait list after this date.
September
September 2 Last day for faculty to drop students from classes.
August 29–September 4 On the sixth day of classes through 10th day of classes, faculty must monitor their class rosters and determine if students may be added to the wait list to meet the enrollment needs for the class. Students will not be automatically enrolled unless faculty add the seats from their wait lists, even if a seat becomes available.
September 4 Schedule adjustment deadline. Last day to add, drop, or change grading basis (7:59 p.m. deadline).
September 4 Last day to opt-out of Immediate Access for online course materials (if applicable).
September 4 Last day for payment of fees for registration (3:30 p.m. deadline).
September 4 Last day to officially withdraw from the university without penalty fee for fall semester 2020. Withdrawal after September 4 requires petition for serious and compelling reason.
September 4 Last day to apply for December 2020 graduation with a bachelor's degree or advanced degree in your SDSU WebPortal. For more information visit the Apply to Graduate web page.
September 4 Last day to file petition for concurrent master's degree credit for fall semester 2020.
September 7 Holiday—Labor Day. Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
September 21 Census.
October
October 1 Applications for admission or readmission to San Diego State University for the fall semester 2021 accepted. Undergraduate applications are NOT accepted after November 30 (postmarked). Graduate applicants should consult Graduate Admissions for closing dates.
October 1 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available for the 2021-22 academic year.
October 14 Indigenous Peoples' Day
October 28 Thesis submission strict 3:45 p.m. deadline: Final day for submitting thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review to have the best likelihood for fall 2020 graduation.
October 31 Last day to officially withdraw from all classes for fall 2020 and receive a prorated refund (withdrawal after September 4 requires special approval and a penalty fee is assessed).
November
November 2 Spring 2021 registration begins.
November 11 Holiday—Veterans Day. Faculty/Staff holiday. Campus closed.
November 26–27 Holiday—Thanksgiving recess. No classes will be held Nov. 27, but campus will remain open.
Campus closed Nov. 26-27. Faculty/staff holiday.
December
December 10 Last day of classes before final examinations.
December 10 Last day for reporting results on comprehensive examinations to the Division of Graduate Affairs by department or college.
December 11–17 Final examinations.
December 18 Thesis publication strict 3:45 p.m. deadline: Thesis review process, including publishing, must be completed on this date at Montezuma Publishing. Applicants for graduation missing the final deadline will be automatically evaluated for graduation in future terms.
December 23–28 Holiday—Winter recess. Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
December 31 Avoid reenrollment in 799B strict 12 p.m. deadline: Final day to submit thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review without having to enroll in 799B the following term.
December 31 Last day for submission of incomplete and RP grade removals (excluding thesis) for December 2020 graduation with an advanced degree.
December 31 Grades due from instructors. (11 p.m. deadline.)
December 31 Last day of fall semester.
January
January 1, 2021 Holiday—New Year's Day Observed. Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
