March
March 22 As of Fall 2022, SDSU is transitioning from a Prepay campus to a Postpay campus. All students will first register for courses then pay for their Tuition and Fees by the assigned due date reflected on their SDSU WebPortal.
April
April Admitted students who submitted a 2022-23 FAFSA or Dream Act Application and have no pending required documents, can view their 2022-23 financial aid eligibility on my.SDSU.
April 4 Personal registration information available in the SDSU WebPortal. SDSU is transitioning from a pre-pay campus to a post-pay campus starting with the fall 2022 semester. All students will first register for courses and then pay Basic Tuition and Fees by the fee payment deadline listed on the SDSU WebPortal.
April 18 Fall 2022 registration begins.
May
Mid-May Continuing students who submitted a 2022-23 FAFSA or Dream Act Application, and have no required documents pending, can view their Fall 2022-Spring 2023 financial aid eligibility via the my.SDSU portal.
Late-May Newly admitted and continuing students who submitted a 2021-22 FAFSA or Dream Act Application, and have signed up for summer courses, can view their Summer 2022 financial aid eligibility via AidLink.
May 2 Applications available for December 2022 graduation with a bachelor's degree or advanced degree. For more information visit the Apply to Graduate web page.
June
June 24 Thesis submission strict 3:45 p.m. deadline: Final day for submitting thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review to have the best likelihood for graduation in summer 2022.
July
July New Student Orientation for freshman students and parents/families (registration required).
August
August New Student Orientation for transfer students and parents/families (registration required).
August 5 Last day for reporting results on comprehensive examinations to the College of Graduate Studies by department or college.
August 12 Thesis publication strict 3:45 p.m. deadline: Thesis review process, including publishing, must be completed on this date at Montezuma Publishing. Applicants for graduation missing the final deadline will be automatically evaluated for graduation in future terms.
August 13 (tentative) New Graduate Student Orientation available (online).
August 15 Basic Tuition and Fees payment deadline, including Non-Resident Tuition and/or Professional Program Fees, if applicable. Enrolled courses will be subject to disenrollment if payment is not made on time.
August 15 Maximum undergraduate registration units for fall 2022 increases from 18 units to 21 units. Students requesting to enroll in more than 21 units must receive approval from their academic advisor.
August 17 Avoid reenrollment in 799B the following term, strict 3:45 p.m. deadline: Final day to submit thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review without having to reenroll in 799B the following term.
August 18 First day of fall semester.
August 18 Welcome Week begins.
August 18 All-University Convocation.
August 20 New Student and Family Convocation.
August 21 Last day to officially withdraw for fall semester and receive a full refund (less administrative fee if applicable).
August 22 A $50 late registration fee will be accessed for late enrollment.
August 22 First Day of Classes. Faculty can begin to add seats from class section wait lists. If a seat becomes available, students on the wait list will be added automatically. Faculty can select the number of students to be added to each course section through the class rosters available in the SDSU WebPortal.
August 28 Last day of wait list auto-enrollment. After this date, enrollment in open seats is not automatic or guaranteed. Faculty must enroll students from their wait list.
August 29–September 2 On the sixth instructional day through the Schedule Adjustment deadline, enrollment in open seats is not automatic or guaranteed. Faculty must monitor their class rosters and determine if students may be added to the wait list to meet the enrollment needs for the class.
August 31 Last day for faculty to drop students from classes (11:59 p.m. deadline).
September
September 2 Schedule Adjustment Deadline. Last day to add, drop, or change grading basis (7:59 p.m. deadline).
September 2 Last day to officially withdraw from the university without penalty fee for fall semester 2022. Withdrawal requests after September 2 are accepted by petition only.
September 2 Last day to apply for December 2022 graduation with a bachelor's degree or advanced degree. For more information visit the Apply to Graduate web page.
September 2 Last day to file petition for concurrent graduate credit for fall semester 2022.
September 2 Last day to opt-out of Immediate Access or Equitable Access for online course materials (if applicable).
September 2 Last day for payment of fees for registration (3:30 p.m. deadline).
September 5 Holiday—Labor Day. Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
September 19 Census.
September 19 Last day to submit a Petition for Late Schedule Adjustment requesting a fall 2022 course withdrawal without a "W" on the transcript. Any approved requests received after this date will result in a "W" on the transcript.
October
October 1 Applications for admission or readmission to San Diego State University for the fall semester 2023 accepted. Undergraduate applications are NOT accepted after November 30 (postmarked). Graduate applicants should consult Graduate Admissions for closing dates.
October 1 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available for the 2023-24 academic year.
October 11 Indigenous Peoples' Day

November
November 1 Last day to officially withdraw from all classes for fall 2022 and receive a prorated refund (withdrawal after September 2 requires special approval and a penalty fee is assessed).
November 8 General Election.
November 11 Holiday—Veterans Day. Faculty/Staff holiday. Campus closed.
November 23 No classes will be held, but campus will remain open.
November 24–25 Holiday—Thanksgiving recess. Faculty/Staff holiday. Campus closed.
December
December 9 Last day for reporting results on comprehensive examinations to the Division of Graduate Studies by department or college.
December 12 Last Day to submit a fall 2022 Petition for Late Schedule Adjustment.
December 12 Last day of classes before final examinations.
December 13–19 Final examinations.
December 16 Thesis publication strict 3:45 p.m. deadline: Thesis review process, including publishing, must be completed on this date at Montezuma Publishing. Applicants for graduation missing the final deadline will be automatically evaluated for graduation in future terms.
December 22–27 Holiday—Winter recess. Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
December 30 Avoid reenrollment in 799B the following term, strict 12 p.m. deadline: Final day to submit thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review without having to reenroll in 799B the following term.
December 30 Grades due from instructors. (11 p.m. deadline.)
December 30 Last day of fall semester.
December 30 Last day for submission of incomplete and RP grade removals (excluding thesis) for December 2022 graduation with an advanced degree.
January
January 2 Holiday—New Year's Day Observed. Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
