Nov. 9, 2016 Spring 2017 basic tuition and fee payments accepted.
January
January 4 Spring 2017 registration begins.
January 14–15 Faculty/staff advising.
January 16 Holiday—Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
January 17 Last day to officially withdraw for the spring 2017 semester and receive a full refund.
January 17 First day of spring semester.
January 17 Last day for nonresident (foreign and out-of-state) students to pay deferred tuition and not incur service charges.
January 18 First Day of Classes. Faculty can begin to add students from class section wait lists. If a seat becomes available, students on the wait list will be added automatically. Faculty can select the number of students to be added to each course section through the class rosters available in the SDSU WebPortal.
Jan. 25-31 On the sixth day of classes through 10th day of classes, faculty must monitor their class rosters and determine if students may be added to the wait list to meet the enrollment needs for the class. Students will not be automatically enrolled unless faculty add the seats from their wait lists, even if a seat becomes available.
January 27 Last day for faculty to drop students from classes.
January 31 Fee payments accepted with late fee. Last opportunity to pay basic tuition and fees by 4 p.m.
January 31 Last day to officially withdraw from the university without penalty fee for spring semester 2017.
January 31 Schedule adjustment deadline. Last day for students to add, drop, or change grading basis (11:59 p.m. deadline). Last day for faculty to add from their wait list.
January 31 Last day to file petition for concurrent master’s degree credit for spring semester 2017.
January 31 Last day to file application for bachelor’s degree or advanced degree for May and August 2017 graduation.
February
February 1 Applications accepted for bachelor’s degree or advanced degree for December 2017 graduation.
February 14 Census.
March
March 21 Last day to officially withdraw from all classes for spring 2017 and receive a prorated refund (withdrawal after January 31 requires special approval and a penalty fee is assessed).
March 24 Last day of classes before spring recess.
March 27-31 Spring recess.
March 31 Holiday—Cesar Chavez Day. Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
April
April 3 Classes resume.
April 14 Final Day for submitting thesis with the $50 processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review to have the likelihood for graduation in May 2017.
April 17–May 12 Theses may be submitted to Montezuma Publishing on an at-risk basis with $50 processing fee. However, May 2017 graduation is contingent upon completion of final processing by 12 p.m., May 12. Students missing this deadline will be required to reapply for graduation for the term in which they expect to graduate.
May
May 4 Last day of classes before final examinations.
May 4 Last day for reporting results on comprehensive examinations to the Division of Graduate Affairs by department or college.
May 5–11 Final examinations.
May 11 Commencement, Imperial Valley Campus.
May 11 Last day to apply for a leave of absence for spring semester 2017.
May 12 Final thesis review process, including publishing, must be completed by 12 p.m. on this date at Montezuma Publishing to meet graduation requirement. Students missing the final thesis review processing deadline will be required to reapply for graduation for the term in which they expect to graduate.
May 12–14 Commencement, main campus.
May 17 Last day for submission of incomplete and RP grade removals (excluding thesis) for May 2017 graduation with an advanced degree.
May 17 Grades due from instructors. (11 p.m. deadline.)
May 17 Final day to submit thesis with a processing fee to Montezuma Publishing without having to enroll in Thesis 799B the following semester. (Noon deadline.)
May 17 Last day of spring semester.
