April 15 Fall 2019 registration begins.
June
June 1 New Graduate Student Orientation available (online).
June 28 Thesis submission strict 3:45 p.m. deadline: Final day for submitting thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review to have the best likelihood for graduation in summer 2019.
July
July New Student Orientation for freshmen and parents (held at SDSU).

August
August New Student Orientation for transfer students and parents (held at SDSU).
August 2 Last day for reporting results on comprehensive examinations to the Division of Graduate Affairs by department or college.
August 16 Thesis publication strict 3:45 p.m. deadline: Thesis review process, including publishing, must be completed on this date at Montezuma Publishing. Students missing the final deadline will be required to reapply for graduation for the term in which they expect to graduate.
August 21 Avoid reenrollment in 799B strict 3:45 p.m. deadline: Final day to submit thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review without having to enroll in 799B the following term.
August 21 Last day of submission of incomplete and RP grade removals (excluding thesis) for August 2019 graduation with an advanced degree.
August 22 First day of fall semester.
August 22 All-University Convocation.
August 23 Welcome Week begins.
August 23 Last day to officially withdraw for fall semester and receive a full refund (less administrative fee if applicable).
August 24 New Student and Family Convocation.
August 25 Last day to pay basic tuition and fees without penalty.
August 26 Last day for nonresident (foreign and out-of-state) students to pay deferred tuition and not incur service charges.
August 26 First Day of Classes. Faculty can begin to add seats from class section wait lists. If a seat becomes available, students on the wait list will be added automatically. Faculty can select the number of students to be added to each course section through the class rosters available in the SDSU WebPortal.
August 26 Basic tuition and fee payments accepted with a late fee.
August 30 Last day of wait list auto-enrollment. Faculty control adding seats from the wait list after this date.
September
September 2 Holiday—Labor Day. Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
September 3–September 9 On the sixth day of classes through 10th day of classes, faculty must monitor their class rosters and determine if students may be added to the wait list to meet the enrollment needs for the class. Students will not be automatically enrolled unless faculty add the seats from their wait lists, even if a seat becomes available.
September 5 Last day for faculty to drop students from classes.
September 9 Schedule adjustment deadline. Last day to add, drop, or change grading basis (7:59 p.m. deadline).
September 9 Last day for payment of fees for registration (3:30 p.m. deadline).
September 9 Last day to officially withdraw from the university without penalty fee for fall semester 2019. Withdrawal after September 9 requires petition for serious and compelling reason.
September 9 Last day to apply for December 2019 graduation with a bachelor's degree or advanced degree in your SDSU WebPortal. For more information visit the Apply to Graduate web page.
September 9 Last day to file petition for concurrent master's degree credit for fall semester 2019.
September 23 Census.
October
October 1 Applications for admission or readmission to San Diego State University for the fall semester 2020 accepted. Undergraduate applications are NOT accepted after November 30 (postmarked). Graduate applicants should consult Graduate Admissions for closing dates.
October 1 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available for the 2020-21 academic year.
October 14 Indigenous Peoples' Day
October 30 Thesis submission strict 3:45 p.m. deadline: Final day for submitting thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review to have the best likelihood for fall 2019 graduation.
November
November 2 Last day to officially withdraw from all classes for fall 2019 and receive a prorated refund (withdrawal after September 9 requires special approval and a penalty fee is assessed).
November 4 Spring 2020 registration begins.
November 11 Holiday—Veterans Day. Faculty/Staff holiday. Campus closed.
November 28–29 Holiday—Thanksgiving recess. No classes will be held Nov. 27, but campus will remain open.

December
December 11 Last day of classes before final examinations.
December 11 Last day for reporting results on comprehensive examinations to the Division of Graduate Affairs by department or college.
December 12–18 Final examinations.
