April 9 Fall 2018 registration begins.
July
July 1 Applications available for May or August 2019 graduation with a bachelor's degree or advanced degree.
July 3 Without Risk: Final day for submitting (without risk) thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review to have the best likelihood for graduation in August (summer) 2018.
July 5—August 21 At Risk: Theses may be submitted to Montezuma Publishing on an at-risk basis. However, August (summer) 2017 graduation is contingent upon review approval and completion of final publishing by noon on August 14. Students missing the publishing deadline will be required to reapply for graduation for the term in which they expect to graduate.
July New Student Orientation for freshmen and parents (held at SDSU).
August
August New Student Orientation for transfer students and parents (held at SDSU).
August 3 Last day for reporting results on comprehensive examinations to the Division of Graduate Affairs by department or college.
August 13 Final: Thesis review process, including publishing, must be completed by noon on this date at Montezuma Publishing. Students missing the final deadline will be required to reapply for graduation for the term in which they expect to graduate.
August 21 Last Day to Submit: Final day, by noon, to submit thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review without having to enroll in Thesis 799B the following term.
August 21 Last day of submission of incomplete and RP grade removals (excluding thesis) for August 2018 graduation with an advanced degree.
August 22 First day of fall semester.
August 23 All-University Convocation.
August 24 Welcome Week begins.
August 24 Last day to officially withdraw for fall semester and receive a full refund (less administrative fee if applicable).
August 24 Last day for nonresident (foreign and out-of-state) students to pay deferred tuition and not incur service charges.
August 24 Last day to pay basic tuition and fees without penalty.
August 25 New Student and Family Convocation
August 27 First Day of Classes. Faculty can begin to add seats from class section wait lists. If a seat becomes available, students on the wait list will be added automatically. Faculty can select the number of students to be added to each course section through the class rosters available in the SDSU WebPortal.
August 27 Basic tuition and fee payments accepted with a late fee.
September
September 3 Holiday—Labor Day. Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
September 6 Last day for faculty to drop students from classes.
September 10 Schedule adjustment deadline. Last day to add, drop, or change grading basis (11:59 p.m. deadline).
September 10 Last day for payment of fees for registration (3:30 p.m. deadline).
September 10 Last day to officially withdraw from the university without penalty fee for fall semester 2018. Withdrawal after September 11 requires petition for serious and compelling reason.
September 10 Last day to apply for December 2018 graduation with a bachelor's degree or advanced degree.
September 10 Last day to file petition for concurrent master’s degree credit for fall semester 2018.
September 24 Census.
October
October 1 Applications for admission or readmission to San Diego State University for the fall semester 2019 accepted. Undergraduate applications are NOT accepted after November 30 (postmarked). Graduate applicants should consult Graduate Admissions for closing dates.
October 26 Without Risk: Final day for submitting (without risk) thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review to have the best likelihood for graduation in December (fall) 2018.

November 1 Spring 2019 registration begins.
November 2 Last day to officially withdraw from all classes for fall 2018 and receive a prorated refund (withdrawal after September 11 requires special approval and a penalty fee is assessed).
November 12 Holiday—Veterans Day. Faculty/Staff holiday. Campus closed.
November 22—23 Holiday—Thanksgiving recess. No classes will be held Nov. 21, but campus will remain open.
Campus closed Nov. 22-23. Faculty/staff holiday.
December
December 12 Last day of classes before final examinations.
December 13—19 Final examinations.
December 13 Last day for reporting results on comprehensive examinations to the Division of Graduate Affairs by department or college.
December 17 Final: Thesis review process, including publishing, must be completed by noon on this date at Montezuma Publishing. Students missing the final deadline will be required to reapply for graduation for the term in which they expect to graduate.
December 24—27 Holiday—Winter recess. Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
December 31 Last day for submission of incomplete and RP grade removals (excluding thesis) for December 2018 graduation with an advanced degree.
