July 5–August 21 | At Risk: Theses may be submitted to Montezuma Publishing on an at-risk basis. However, August (summer) 2017 graduation is contingent upon review approval and completion of final publishing by noon on August 14. Students missing the publishing deadline will be required to reapply for graduation for the term in which they expect to graduate. |
July 10 | Fall 2017 registration begins. |
July 13–July 31 | New Student Orientation for freshmen and parents (held at SDSU). |

August 14 | Final: Thesis review process, including publishing, must be completed by noon on this date at Montezuma Publishing. Students missing the final deadline will be required to reapply for graduation for the term in which they expect to graduate. |
August 20 | Last Day to Submit: Final day, by noon, to submit thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review without having to enroll in Thesis 799B the following term. |
August 21 | Last day of submission of incomplete and RP grade removals (excluding thesis) for August 2017 graduation with an advanced degree. |
August 21 | Faculty and Staff Convocation. |
August 22 | First day of fall semester. |
August 25 | Welcome Week begins. |
August 25 | Last day to officially withdraw for fall semester and receive a full refund (less administrative fee if applicable). |
August 25 | Last day for nonresident (foreign and out-of-state) students to pay deferred tuition and not incur service charges. |
August 26 | New Student and Family Convocation. |
August 27 | Last day to pay basic tuition and fees without penalty. |
August 28 | Basic tuition and fee Payments accepted with a late fee. |
August 28 | First Day of Classes. Faculty can begin to add seats from class section wait lists. If a seat becomes available, students on the wait list will be added automatically. Faculty can select the number of students to be added to each course section through the class rosters available in the SDSU WebPortal. |
